I planned on driving to Santa Barbara for practice this morning. Last night, I set the alarm for 5, set out my clothes, set the coffee timer for 5:30…
Somewhere around 1 a.m. I reconsidered. With gas prices being what they are, and with a 4 hour round-trip drive time ahead of me, I decided not to go. Maybe next week.
Self practice was nice, the hamstrings are beginning to soften up. Strangely enough, I think the new twice-weekly 3 mile jogs are loosening things up somehow. Is that even possible? Or perhaps the body shifts and changes so subtly that I haven’t noticed the slow opening until now.
There is a strange sensation deep in the ball-socket joint of the hip/leg in poses like Krounchasana, Supta Trivikrmasana, Urdva Mukha Paschimottanasana… Ouch. it’s not a pulling but a pushing. Almost like the leg is being forced back too deep in to the hip socket, a grinding of sorts. Discomfort might be an understatement. Maybe tomorrow I’ll try to push with the leg away while I pull with the arms towards. Or push the leg UP instead of away? Unless someone out there has a better idea?
I gave myself Eka Pada Sirsasana today.
I think I’ll give it back tomorrow. I already feel mildly guilty. And sore, of course.
Happy Spring, by the way!
