I don’t even have a good excuse as to why I haven’t written in so long…. I just haven’t. And I wasn’t feeling that guilty about it until this morning at the shala in Santa Barbara when I saw Mrs. Kennedy on her mat… who has not only blogged every day, but she’s also blogged photos of her shoes every day. AND on top of that, she’s running the whole NaBloPoMo shebang. AND she has a kid. AND she still manages to make it to the shala.
I have to admit… I’m impressed. Nice work, Mrs. K.
Friday practice in SB. Very nice. We spent lots of time again on that little lump in my back. There’s this fine line between lumpy back and torn hamstring attachment, and I’m playing tightrope walker. Teacher talked a lot about the internal pose now that the external poses of primary are solid. The internal intelligence, the bandhas, the squeezing, the ever so subtle movement of the root. This is good. I think this will be a key to pelvic stabilization and the end to all this wanky hip and back pain. I hope. And then in backbends, after three dropbacks he had me dropback one more time and then try to pull my legs up into handstand and over… Viparita Chakrasana backwards. Yeah. Right.
In finishing, we worked on a few pranayama sequences with strong bandha integration. Another step towards healing and pulling that lump back in from protrusion.
Now I’m drinking coffee even though I don’t really need it and am having enormous qualms about that huge hairy spider I saw in the shower this morning and decided not to kill. Tay says it was nowhere to be found when he woke up which means it’s hiding either in the laundry or in my sheets…. EEK! Oh my. Oh how I hate spiders. Hate them. Really do. Heeby Jeeby.
